Search site

Users are most interested in the faces behind a brand. They want to interact with content that is relevant to them and feel closer to the people they are going to buy from or sell through.  That is why 2023 must be the year that your estate agency, letting agency, or small business gets video-busy on Instagram & Facebook (Reels), YouTube (Shorts), or TikTok.

The popularity of short-form video content stems from the fact that most people lack the time to watch content that lasts longer than a few minutes. If you run a business, it is essential that your videos are brief. It’s also why Instagram Reels and TikTok are so successful.  Statistics indicate that approximately 68% of users will watch a business video with a duration of less than one minute.  In addition, approximately 93% of businesses have acquired customers via short-form social media videos. Additionally, people share videos twice as frequently as any other online content.  According to a Hubspot survey on marketing trends, approximately 51% of marketers who utilised short-form videos in 2022 are willing to invest more in this medium moving forward.

So what is your business doing?

Instagram Reels and Facebook Reels for Estate Agents

An Instagram or Facebook Story is not the same as a Reel. One of the biggest differences between the two is that Reels don’t go away after 24 hours. When a Reel is posted, it can be watched until the person who made it deletes it.

YouTube Shorts for Estate Agency Brands

YouTube Shorts are vertical videos that are 60 seconds or less in length. Since its launch in September 2020, YouTube Shorts has accumulated over 5 trillion views. YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine behind Google.

The YouTube Shorts algorithm:  Each day, YouTube Shorts receive an astounding 15 billion views and 1.5 billion users that watch Shorts each day.  With that much traffic, there has to be a foolproof way to sort and prioritise the content and this is where the algorithm comes in to make sure that the right audiences are connected to the right creators!  Outside of your subscriber base, the more Shorts you post the better chance you have of appearing on a random viewer’s YouTube home feed.

To record a Short video, go to the YouTube mobile app and select Create → Create a Short

  • Start recording by selecting the Record button. You can record a video for up to 60 seconds.
  • Once done, add a descriptive title (up to 100 characters), evoke emotion, use an emoji at the end of the title and #short
  • Post consistently!

What about TikTok?

TikTok for Estate Agents

TikTok is a social media app centered around short videos which launched in the UK back in September 2017 but really became a household name during the Covid pandemic.  Your behaviour as you use your account impacts the TikTok algorithm, dictating what kinds of videos from other
users pop up on your For You Page.

  • Add Music: TikTok’s extensive music library and integration with Apple Music is where the app edges out all other social platforms. Creators can add, remix, save, and discover songs and sounds via playlists, videos, and more.
  • Interact: TikTok users can follow accounts they like, and give hearts, gifts, comments, or shares on videos they enjoy. Videos, hashtags, sounds, and effects can be added to a user’s Favourites section.
  • Discover: The Discover feed is all about trending hashtags, but users can also search for keywords, users, videos, and sound effects. People can add friends by searching the username, or scanning the unique TikCode.

If you want your content to reach as many followers as possible and get picked by the right people on the For You Page, you’ll need to find the perfect time of day when your target audience is scrolling through their feeds. Remember that 17 million people in the UK use the internet every month, so it’s best to have a plan.

Here are the best times in the UK (BST) to post on TikTok:

  • Monday, 11am and 3pm
  • Tuesday: 3 am; 7 am; 9 am; 2 pm
  • Wednesday: 12 pm; 1 pm
  • Thursday at 4am, 2pm, and 5am
  • Friday: 12 am; 10 am; 6 pm; 8 pm
  • Saturday: 4 pm
  • Sunday: 12 am; 1 am; 12 pm; 1 pm; 9 pm
